Mount Ijen is a volcano located on the border of Banyuwangi and Bondowoso Regencies, East Java, Indonesia. It stands 2,386 meters above sea level. Mount Ijen last erupted in 1999. One of Mount Ijen's most famous natural phenomena is the blue fire within the crater at the summit. This blue fire can only be found in one country in the world, one of which coincides with Banyuwangi. Climbing this mountain can begin from two locations: Banyuwangi and Bondowoso.
The world-famous Blue Fire of Ijen Crater appears to the naked eye as a blue flame. However, Blue Fire is a phenomenon where sulfur gas emerges from cracks in the rock, reaching temperatures of up to 600 degrees Celsius and interacting with the surrounding air. This unique natural phenomenon only occurs in two other places in the world, one of which is at Ijen Crater in Indonesia.
